Just wanted to say a few words to those of you who are hesitant to have any type of weight loss surgery. The freedom you will feel after the weight starts coming off will astound you. Yes, freedom from the tyrannical hold that food has over you.

The journey begins.
Submitted by Linda Dahl on Sun, 04/11/2010 - 9:40pm.I've made up my mind and hopefully will be a candidate for VLS. I am excited, trepadacious, have lots of questions and live in Wenatchee.
Did any of you feel anxious between knowing the decision to have surgery was right for you and then really getting down to it? I wish it was next week,, not next month! I want to get going~~I am about 40 days until surgery. Seems like an eternity. I could gain 20 pounds in 40 days!@!@
thanks you all in advance for replying to this late night, slightly worried blog.
Make a resolution to live better...read more....
Submitted by melaniemachado on Fri, 01/08/2010 - 12:30pm.We love New Year’s resolutions. They represent our inherent desire to move forward in our lives in a positive way. We possess instinctual behaviors to grow. Because of our desire and curiosity we started by reaching out to touch something, then we crawled to approach it, we then stood up and walked towards it. We learned to handle it, move it, manipulate it and conquer it. We still continue to move forward in different ways. Here is a long list of popular resolutions that promote a step forward. Just reading this list can inspire us to take control and move towards a more well being.

Here is a new recipe that a WLS patient gave me today. Just wanted to share it with the rest of you.
"Fried Mozarella Stick- WLS style"
Crush Fiber One Cereal. Add seasonings to crushed Fiber One such as Italian seasoning, parsley, and salt/pepper. Dip string cheese into egg or egg substitute. Roll in Fiber One and seasoning mixture. Bake in the oven 350 degrees until done to your likeness.
Enjoy!
She said even her husband liked these ;)

not feeling much restriction
Submitted by lorik on Fri, 07/24/2009 - 9:25am.I'm not really feeling much restrition from my first fill. I still feel like I have to force myself to stop eatting so as not to overdo it in one setting. I'll see how things go over the weekend.
I'm working hard on regulating the water with my meals - i'm not quite getting to an hour after meal, but I am at least waiting 30 minutes. I am also working on making sure I have at least 15 minutes prior to eatting without drinking any water. It's a new habit, i just need to learn to manage it.
First Fill Today
Submitted by lorik on Tue, 07/21/2009 - 8:12pm.I had my 1 month nutrition assessment and first fill today. Things are going great so far, but I know that the weight loss will start to slow down now and I'm okay with that.
3cc fill today - dr. suggests that the next fill be under fleuroscopy as well as it took just a little wiggling to get in the port.
Gastric Band Newbie
Submitted by paulajan3 on Thu, 07/16/2009 - 9:04am.Hi, just had the surgery Monday the 13th. I'm feeling ok (kind of like I've done 8 million ab crunches in a row) but also feel really bloated/gassy. Almost like my upper torso is expanded, bleah. Any thoughts, suggestions?
Excited and disappointed
Submitted by lorik on Sun, 07/12/2009 - 7:38am.Super excited that since my first Pre-op appointment i have lost almost 30 pounds. I am so disappointed that all the protein supplements are too sweet, and they use aspartame or sucralose as the sweetening agent. I know, I sound like a broken record.
